It’s been a really rapid journey. If someone said to me six months ago: you’ll be arrested twice in the next 6 months I would have said: absolutely no way! I still can’t get my head round it, to be honest.
Six months ago I’d sit and sob at the end of David Attenborough documentaries, but I couldn’t go beyond that. My 17 year-old daughter said: “Why don’t we actually DO SOMETHING?”. There’s something very powerful about doing this with her. Every time I waiver, I see her there and I think about how Climate Breakdown is going to impact her and my other kids. She’s the emblem of that.
We need more people who deeply care. I think we all care, but most people don’t believe they have agency. Sometimes if you stand and shout, people don’t listen. But if your message comes from a calmer, quieter place, then people might notice more.
Arrest is difficult. But it feels like you’re sending a really powerful message to the government saying: I don’t accept your fate for us!Bex
