I’ve always believed our lives are so much bigger than we think they can be. I do believe we can change things and bring about a new paradigm. And I want to be part of that.
I could have become a full-time activist. The scope-creep is enormous. One minute they ask you to cook a meal for a bunch of activists, and the next you’re giving someone a leg-up onto a motorway gantry.
It was at an Insulate Britain talk where I was like: “Oh shit, this is really bad” We need to retro-fit vast swathes of homes, and we don’t have the skilled workforce to do it. I guess people can just be cold when there’s no-one to insulate their homes, but they can’t go without food when we can’t grow food.
Part of why we’re so okay about the climate crisis is because we’ve forgotten that our food is weather-dependent. It people were growing their own food more we’d be more worried.
In the Just Stop Oil spokes-person role I have a platform to call bullshit on this illusion that everything’s okay and that we can trust the powers that be to look after us.
