I visited Norwich to meet and draw activists with Just Stop Oil. While I was there I met writer Rebecca Stonehill and her daughter. Rebecca is a writer and uses her blog to engage in activism through writing. I’m proud to report she featured Faces Of Rebellion in the post: Just Stop Oil – Criminals or Heroes? It’s a thoughtful and personal exploration of the issues that surround choosing to take direct action. I’m delighted that Faces Of Rebellion fed into her though processes. That’s just the sort of impact this work can have!
At the end of the post she includes an excerpt from an email I wrote after reading her article. I answer her question: Criminals of Heroes, in my own way, and explore some of the horizontal themes that I see among these stories now that I have done over thirty of them. Writing that email helped me understand some of the meaning and potential of this form of art-activism. I’m very grateful to Rebecca for engaging with it.
