We are going through a planetary and civilisational crisis because of what we have done. And he darkest paradox is that those who caused least are paying with their lives!
Gandhi said: when you look at something unjust you have to take a step.
In 2009 I walked from Oxford to Copenhagen for COP 15 when Obama came. When I walked from London to Glasgow for COP 26 I set off on Gandhi’s birthday.
I measure my steps, because how does change happen? One step at a time. So far I’ve done 35 million steps, and met 600,000 people in person.
What I do is take the pain in me. Because walking like that is difficult, and I walk quite fast. I take the pain of the people and internalize it in me. When I walk I sing songs of inspiration and truth, in Tamil:
“Even if the big blue sky falls on your head, be fearless, fearless, fearless!“
I call myself a regular guy, with irregular hair.
I’m seeking the truth, like a Sufi. “Seek the truth to speak the truth, to speak truth to power”: that’s Gandhi in three teaspoons.
